Product Description
Description
The CM Series Mooring Buoy has been designed to provide the ultimate in strength, durability and boat protection, giving increased security to any mooring. We make two versions of mooring iron, one from galvanized steel with a protective vinyl-coated eye, and the other from durable stainless steel. To provide strength and security, each version features a 1/2-inch central rod, a large eye (4-3/8 inch diameter), and a swivel (1-1/2 inch wide). The CM-Series is a long tested standard in mooring buoy design and is prefered by many boaters worldwide. The CM is available in three color versions: fluorescent red, all white or white with a blue stripe.
Features
- Mooring Iron made with vinyl-protected galvanized or stainless steel
- Large reinforced 4-3/8" eye and 1-1/2" swivel
- Soft vinyl surface protects boat finishes
- Polyform's unique vinyl valve seals securely
- Even wall thickness for maximum strength and durability
Mooring Buoy Safety Tips

- In adverse conditions, the holding power of the mooring can be increased by lengthening the mooring pennant. This increases the scope of the mooring providing greater holding power.
- A second mooring pennant can be run to the top eye as a safety in case the primary pennant chafes through or fails.
- Shackles should be moused to prevent opening. Electricians plastic tie wraps are an excellent means of securing a shackle.
- Always use chafing gear where mooring lines run through bow chocks or are likely to contact deck hardware. A thimble on the shackled end will prevent chafe at the buoy.
Mooring Buoys Sizing Guide
To figure out what size buoy you will need, determine the weight of the chain it must support. All chain has a stated weight per foot. Never exceed the maximum chain weight (75% of the buoy's displacement weight) from the buoy table below. These estimates are for ideal conditions, buoys placed in rougher conditions with strong currents and large tidal swings may require greater buoyancy and a larger size buoy.
