    Horizontal Windlasses

    Windlasses are systems used to help raise and lower the boat anchor and are available in vertical and horizontal options. Deciding which type of windlass you need is dependent on a few factors. The size of your boat, the anchor size, and the material of your anchor rod. IE Boat Supplies has a selection of horizontal windlasses from Maxwell and Lewmar.

    Horizontal windlasses are mounted above deck, and because of this, they are easier to install than their vertical counterparts. This also makes them easier to perform maintenance on.  Horizontal windlasses are often preferred when your boat has a smaller chain locker.
