Product Description
MOB+ Basepack
MOB+ is an electronically controlled, wireless cut-off switch which can be used on all boats. The MOB+ system consists of an easy to install xHUB mounted in your boat and one (1) wearable xFOB. The two (2) communicate wirelessly with each other.
As you step aboard your boat, press the xFOB to connect to the xHUB. A green light and an audio signal will confirm the connection and the engine can be started. Should a fall over board occur, the engine will be shut down. Engine shut down is initiated by the xFOB being under water or more than 50 feet from the xHUB. Six (6) seconds after shut down, passengers can restart the engine to save the person in the water. When leaving the boat press the xFOB once to disconnect.
The xHUB connects to power (12V-24V) and to your engine stopping system.
xFOB's offer a range of wearable options for you to be most comfortable using the system. The xFOB has more than 300 hours of battery life, and is powered by an easy to change standard coin cell (CR2032) battery.
Up to four (4) xFOB’s can be connected to the xHUB at the same time, with one (1) unit acting as the captain’s stop unit, and the additional three (3) as alarm units for passengers. Up to 20 xFOB's can be stored per xHUB.
*As of April 1, 2021, the U.S.C.G. implemented a new law passed by Congress requiring the use of engine cut-off switches (ECOS) and the associated engine cut-off switch link (ECOSL) on recreational vessels. The law is relevant to all federally navigable waterways and specifically applies to recreational vessels with the following characteristics:
- Vessels less than 26 feet in length
- Vessels with an engine capable of 115 lbs. static thrust (approximately 2-3 hp)
- Vessels built in January 2020 or later
Features:
- Alarm only or Alarm/Stop - Choose to connect an xHUB with alarm only or stop/alarm functionality.
- Sound and flashing light - When an xFOB goes overboard, the xHUB sounds an alarm and flashes Red.
- Freedom Onboard - Up to 50' range.
- Automatic Engine Stop - If you fall over board the engine will stop as you hit the water.

fell mob+ engine kill system
Easy install... as easy as working on boat wiring could be. Tryed a couple used...like new one first. #1 Used-like new condition, the housing was completely broken in half. #2 Used-like new condition, Fob was missing. Finally I order a new one. Install was easy and simple, took a couple hours but I was taking my time. No problems with packaging or missing parts. Operate as advertised.... dunked tge Fob into a trash can full of water and the engine shut down before tge Fob reached the bottom. Instructions state there is also a wireless connection up to 50 feet. I walk a good 200 feet from the boat and the engine was still running. I pressed the center button on the Fob and the motor shut down immediately, telling me I was still in wireless range.

Base unit distracting light at night
Due to frequent nighttime boating I need to protect my night-vision….and the MOB base unit has bright LEDs and Flashing Green circles which continue for over 3 minutes after engine start. Therefore, I mounted the base unit down low/out-of-direct-view ….which required splicing 4 new leads to the original 8-inches of wiring harness. The unit Also needs circuit-protection…. I added a 5-Amp in-line fuse holder. (….unit claims 3A req’d.)

Innovation at its best
I found this to be safer than the traditional kill switch strap. The boat won't start unless you either acknowledge with the FOB or with the override on the wireless switch--therefore ensuring that you're either wearing the FOB or have acknowledged that you aren't. It allows you freedom to move around the boat while in neutral and the engine running without having to connect/disconnect the traditional kill-switch cable. You can also impress your friends that you can shut off the motor from the dock merely by pressing on the fob. I liked this product so much that it was the first thing that I bought for my newest boat.

Great device
As a lifelong boater I've seen many people unexpectedly ejected from their boats, including myself. It usually turns out okay but when it doesn't people die. If you've ever forgotten to wear the wrist strap you need this device. I am very impressed with the functionality and think devices like this should come standard in every new boat of any size. One of the little features I like is that after first turning on the ignition I have to press the button on the fob to start the boat. This reminds me to ensure the fob is attached to my body before getting underway. I keep my fob in a little draw-string pouch attached to a carabiner clip and just clip it to my person. I think the wristband is overkill. The only real issue I have is the "boot up" time. It takes a few seconds to power on after you've turned on the boat's ignition before you can press the button on the fob and get underway. I feel this could be a safety issue if I have to get underway in a hurry - like when some drunken pleasureboater is about to hit me. I therefore tend to leave the ignition on while drifting and use the kill switch to stop the motor instead of turning it off with the key. If you have an outboard the install can be difficult. I had to disassemble the control lever box for my motor, as it contains the ignition, kill switch, and other associated wiring. Tapping this wiring inside the limited space of the control box and running it to my dash was not an easy task. I ended up having to use scotchlok-style wire taps which is far from an ideal solution in a marine environment. I put grease on everything to hopefully prevent corrosion. I think the device would be very easy to install if your kill switch and ignition are installed in a dashboard.

What a game changer
I've had this product for over a year on and I love it. It was simple to install and once on, it allows me to move around my boat without worrying about attaching a string every time. This worked so well, I decided to purchase three more wristbands with chips for the rest of my family or fishing buddies. This gives me peace of mind while boating. FYI, I tested it by placing my arm in my bait tank and the engine shut off right away. I then parked my boat with the engine running and jumped into the water and the engine shut off. I highly recommend this product for any boat owner or jet skier.
