Dock Fenders

Dock fenders are cushioning devices used to protect both a boat's hull and the dock structure from impact damage, scratches, and scuffs during docking, mooring, or when tied up. They work by absorbing the kinetic energy generated during contact.

Types of Dock Fenders

The primary distinction is between portable fenders hung from the boat and permanent bumpers mounted to the dock.

Dock-Mounted Bumpers (Permanent)

  • D-Profile and P-Profile Edging: These are rigid or flexible strips of PVC or rubber that are screwed directly to the vertical side (D-profile) or top edge (P-profile) of the dock, providing continuous protection along the perimeter.
  • Corner Bumpers: Specifically designed 90-degree molded pieces of foam or PVC used to protect the sharp, vulnerable corners of a dock.
  • Piling Bumpers/Pads: These wrap around vertical support posts to protect the hull from damage when the boat shifts in the slip.
  • Dock Wheels: Installed on the corners of a slip, these spinning wheels help guide a boat in and out of a narrow spot and minimize friction damage.
