- Low profile for optimized performance
- Advanced finishing results from increased disc and tool efficiency
- For use with Dual Action Polisher and DBP5/DBP6 backing plate
Getting maximum results when compounding or polishing paint
- Wash and dry the vehicle thoroughly to remove all loose contaminants with a pH balanced car wash like Meguiar’s Gold Class Car Wash.
- If the paint feels rough to the touch following a wash, a clay bar should be used to remove bonded contaminants. Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Quik Clay Kit or Meguiar’sSmooth Surface Clay Kit comes with everything needed to safely remove bonded contaminants and leave paint as smooth as glass.
- Under strong lighting, either from direct sunlight or using a detailing light, visually inspect the paint finish for below surface defects like oxidation, swirl marks, scratches, and etchings from bird droppings.
- For very light defects or just to enhance the gloss of the paint, the DFP5 foam polishing disc can be used with a Meguiar’s polish, like Ultimate Polish, prior to applying your favorite Meguiar’swax.
- For more severe defects, the DFC5 foam cutting disc should be used with a more aggressive cleaner like Ultimate Compound.
Application Tips
- For best results, ensure car is cool to the touch and in the shade.
- Attach the DFP5 polishing disc to the DBP5 backing plate on a Meguiar’s MT300 DA Polisher.
- Apply a ring of your favorite Meguiar’s compound or polish to the disc about ½” in from the edge.
- Remember a little bit of product goes a long way.
- Set polisher speed to approx. 4800 OPM’s and place disc firmly against the paint before turning the polisher on.
- Using moderate pressure and slow movements, work an area roughly 2’ x 2’ in a cross hatch, overlapping motion.
- When the product appears very thin on the surface, but before it disappears completely, stop buffing and wipe off the residue with a Meguiar’sSupreme Shine Microfiber Towel.
- Inspect your results, repeat if needed or move on to the next section.
- Add more product as needed, but do not overuse.
- Clean the car polishing pad frequently with a pad brush or compressed air.
- Continue working section by section until desired results are met.
